I think the physical piece looks great, but it was a bit hard to hit the targets because of the latency, i love both the digital and physical aspects i just think that it should be a bit faster.
Melodic Pillow- Dyna & Angie
I like this project because the concept of it seems both ironic and counterintuitive, a pillow that stops you from sleeping. I think the interactivity is interesting but i think that it should be able to produce more sounds.
DreamBox- Kawn
The code looks great and i also think the interactivity is great despite the physical piece being a bit simple, The project reminds me of the game Undertale for some reason(i can’t explain). The colors are interesting and fit the physical piece very well 8.5/10
The inspiration for the project came from the diy microbit smart watch
The idea for the project came from my little brother, who told me if i could make a watch with the micro bit but i decided to create a flock since it’s something i wanted to do for a while.
Project
It worked much better than i expected even though i spent most of the process working on the code. I do wish i spent more time working on the physical component so it would be much easier to put the glove on, but i’m happy with the way it turned out
I think a more fitting title would be paper tower but alas rocket is what we went with. It’s a light sculpture made of individual pieces of paper
Materials
Paper
Dowl
Stuffing
Cardboard
Pressure sensor
LED
Describe: The projects works well and as expected with little malfunction and i think that’s nice.
Compared to our other ideas I’d say it’s the least unique
Functionality: It functions pretty well with little malfunction
Effort: We modified the code originally used in the tutorial and added a few more interactive elements, so moderate effort
Aesthetic: It’s aesthetically pleasing to look at
Construction: It’s surprisingly more stable than expected and it holds well.
Favorite aspect: My favorite part of the piece are the little fans, although they were a lot to make they were also fun.
Hurdles: the biggest hurdle was deciding what project to actually make, when we decided what we were going to make the difficulty was how to get the fans on the structure but we had help from our professor
Improvement: I would probably look for a better looking base and look for a place to keep the microbit.
Number of hours spent working on each components: 5 hours in total

Critiques
Title-sky tree- Jenna & Binh
I love the aesthetic of this project it’s nice to look at especially with the colors, they make a good match
The neo pixel Christmas tree- Nathane
This one is neat and i think it would make a great souvenir. I think the interactivity could be improved but it was great.
Doris the addict-Sophia & Lanna
This on e is one of my favorites, the structure is really unique and the way the light moves around the structure is incredible.
Bismuth: Our first idea is a bismuth gem made out of paper. The led would be pure white at first but when interacted with it would change colors to an actual bismuth
Version 1.0.0
Diamond: We would make a 3 dimensional diamond that that beats like a heart
DNA: A paper structure of a dna sample that flashes
I liked the way this project mixed the tensegrity wit the circuit itself. I think that it was overall well crafted and lives up to it’s name.
Papick the robot (Sofia & Lanna)
I really like the way this one works, and the interactivity is fun and engaging. The robot was apparently supposed to go in a straight line but i think the fact that it tries to go a way from the light when you point at it gives it more personality.
A pressure sensitive material commonly used in diy electronics
Voltage divider
A voltage divider is a straightforward circuit made of two resistors in series. By tapping two resistors in series. By tapping between the resistors you get an output voltage that is a fraction of the two.
The plan for the project was something simple. I thought of the idea for a fan. The tensegrity was supposed to be a lot more complicated
Kawn offered a more simpler tensegrity so we went with this one
Circuit
Process
Original code
We went through a bunch of versions before we landed on one
Materials Used
Paper straw,
Scotch tape
Wood, paper, cardboard, toothpicks, glue, etc.
Crafting tools and supplies
Servo motor or DC hobby gear motor(s)
BBC microBit
LDR modules (light sensor module)
TIP 120 Darlington Transistors
Breakout boards (DFRobot MicroMate)
External white LEDs (optional)
Recycled materials
Description: The ISI is just a simple tensegrity structure that would just spin.
Functionality: The project reacts to light, the more light there is the faster it spins and vice versa.
Self evaluation
Title of the work
Title: ISI (Innovative simple Interesting) Project. We used cardboard box, strings, wood, tape and toothpicks. We wanted a tensegrity that would fit to look like a fan.
How creative or unique is your piece?
I think the structure and the way it functions is unique
How functional is your piece?
It functions as intended, except for the fact that the motor and the speed nearly gave us trouble since it was not stable enough.
How much effort did you put into coding?
We took some time on the code but it was a cake walk from there.
How aesthetically successful is your piece?
We put a lot of effort on the tensegrity and we are happy about our structure. On the other hand, we could’ve made our project look nice but it didn’t really concern us that much.
How well constructed is you piece?
Our tensegrity is somewhat well done and the rest of our project looks okay.
Your favorite aspect of the piece and why it works well for you.
The tensegrity itself was my favorite part of the project
What hurdles did you overcome and how?
We were worried about if we could find the right size and tensegrity that we wanted but in the end we found it. Making the structure took a long time but it was fun.
Suggestions for improvement and how you would implement them.
To improve the project i think that we would make the structure a bit more stable, and maybe we could look for a better way to attach the piece to the motor
Key learnings from the creative process.
We learned that we should prioritize the structure first and if its doable rather than just being ambitious and impulsive.
Servo motors- these allow for movement in precise angles they operate from 4.8- 6 volts they move at a 180. Closed loop (180), open loop(360). Higher voltage = higher torque
DC Motor- The allow continuous 360 motion
Analog vs Digital
Analog signals are continuous and have a range of value, they vary smoothly overtime.
Digital signals are discrete signal that has only two possible states “ON & OFF” it represents information using binary digits
IF , ELSE logic
Fundamental programming construct used in decision making. it allows you to execute different sets of
Tensegrity
Tensegrity, tensional integrity or floating compression is a structural principle based on a system of isolated components under compression inside a network of continuous tension, and arranged in such a way that the compressed members do not touch each other while the pretressed tensioned
